Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This policy covers the Playsoloist family of instrument apps. Microphone audio and captured or imported recordings stay on your device.
Audio
Listening, tuning, transcription, and grading run on your device. We do not upload audio recordings, raw microphone data, or transcriptions to our service or its processors. Where an instrument is graded by touch (keyboards or pads), the microphone is not used.
What reaches our servers
- Coach requests — only when you use a network-backed Coach, a bounded, structurally sanitized conversation history (limited to allowed roles and length, not automatically scrubbed of personal information) and a short grading summary, such as timing and intonation percentages, are sent to our service and an AI-processing provider to generate the reply. Do not type names, contact details, or other sensitive information. We do not retain the conversation transcript after the request completes.
- Service identity and limits — a random installation token and short-lived counters enforce Coach allowances and protect the service from automated abuse. The token is not an advertising identifier and is not derived from your device.
- Purchase and subscription events — Apple's signed transaction and subscription-notification details are processed to activate access, handle renewals, expiries, revocations, and refunds, and prevent duplicate or stale events from changing an entitlement incorrectly. These records can include pseudonymous transaction or subscription identifiers, product and status information, expiry and signed-event times, and notification identifiers or types; they do not include your name or payment-card details.
What we don't do
- Core app use does not require a Playsoloist account or email address.
- No advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose the limited service data above only to infrastructure and AI-processing providers needed to operate those features.
Practice data
Your imported or captured audio, lesson progress, takes, and practice stats remain local to your device. Playsoloist does not use iCloud or CloudKit to sync that practice data, and we cannot read it.
Retention & deletion
- Monthly Coach counters, including the free allowance, are set to expire 70 days after creation. Minute-rate counters are set to expire within minutes, and unlinked network-abuse signals within 48 hours; storage deletion can occur asynchronously after expiry.
- Entitlement state and notification-deduplication records are retained as needed to verify access, process subscription changes and refunds, prevent duplicate or stale events from reactivating access, and meet operational or legal requirements. They are not used for advertising.
Delete local data in the app where that control is available, or remove the app. Email nora@playsoloist.com to request deletion of service-side data. Deletion removes ordinary installation-linked service records. Minimal deletion tombstones and pseudonymous subscription or notification-integrity records may remain where needed to stop an old credential recreating deleted data, preserve correct App Store entitlement state, prevent fraud or replay, or comply with law. Those records contain no practice audio, imported content, or Coach transcript.
Children
Playsoloist apps are not directed at children under 13. Coach messages are free text and could contain personal information if you choose to type it, so please do not include sensitive details.
